How we calculate your Gallery System
The calculator considers all of your walls together, allocating suitable track lengths and reusable offcuts across the project to minimise waste. To keep each installation neat and practical, it allows no more than one cut piece per wall rather than making up a wall length from several small offcuts.
Track
Gallery track is available in 2 metre lengths, with 3 metre lengths also available in white, black and anodised silver. Choose whether the calculator should use 2 metre tracks only or consider the best mix of 2 and 3 metre tracks.
Joins
The calculator works out where track sections need to meet. Joiners are included for compatible configurations. Clear Tape droppers enter from an accessible track end, so their track sections are carefully aligned and butted together without joiner products.
End caps
For each wall, select whether the left end, right end or both require an end cap. The calculator includes the quantity and finish you select; unselected ends are treated as not requiring an end cap.
Hanging components
We start with one dropper and one hook for each metre of track being installed, rounding each quantity up to the nearest pack of ten. This is a practical starting point for most installations, and the quantities can be adjusted in the calculator or at checkout.
The Gallery System at a glance
Track
The Gallery System track is an aluminium profile that mounts horizontally to the wall and forms the foundation from which your artwork is hung. It is supplied in 2 and 3 metre lengths and can be cut or joined as required.
Droppers
Stainless Steel, Clear Line and Clear Tape droppers suspend from the track and hang vertically down the wall. They can be repositioned horizontally whenever you change your display.
Hooks
Hooks attach to the droppers and support the artwork. Their position can be adjusted vertically, allowing picture heights to be changed without making new holes in the wall.
Accessories and lighting
End caps and track joiners complete compatible track configurations. The calculator also includes HangRight Clips and felt wall protectors. The same track can also support the separately specified Gallery Lighting System.

Common questions about The Gallery System
How is Gallery System track supplied, cut and joined?
Gallery System track is supplied in 2 metre lengths, with 3 metre lengths also available in white, black and anodised silver. Track is not pre-cut; it can be trimmed to suit shorter walls or joined to create longer runs.
We recommend measuring and cutting each piece during installation so that small variations in wall measurements can be accommodated. The calculator lets you use 2 metre tracks only or consider the best mix of 2 and 3 metre lengths.
How long are Gallery System droppers, and what should I do with any excess?
Standard Gallery System droppers are 2 metres long. Three-metre stainless steel droppers are also available for taller installations.
Any excess can be formed into a loose coil and tucked behind the lowest artwork, preserving the full length for future use. Clear Line and Clear Tape droppers can be cut if preferred, but this permanently shortens them. Stainless steel droppers must not be cut because the braided wire can fray and become unusable.
Can I move my pictures after the system is installed?
Yes. Droppers can be moved along the track and hooks can be adjusted vertically, allowing you to change the position and height of your artwork without repeatedly fixing into the wall.
Can I combine different droppers and hooks in one Gallery System?
Yes. Many customers choose one dropper and hook combination throughout an installation for consistency and simple operation, but you can use different compatible combinations where your display needs vary.
The calculator creates each option using one dropper and hook combination. Choose the option closest to your overall requirements and add it to the cart. Then visit the All Gallery System Components page to add alternatives. In the cart, you can remove items or adjust each quantity to create your preferred combination.
How much weight can Gallery System droppers and hooks hold?
Capacity depends on the dropper and hook combination. Stainless steel droppers with a compatible Gallery hook are rated to 20 kg with one hanging point or 40 kg with two. Clear Tape with a Standard Hook is rated to 15 kg or 30 kg with two. Clear Line with a Mini Hook is rated to 8 kg or 16 kg with two; Clear Line with a Push Button Hook is rated to 6 kg or 12 kg with two.
The calculator shows the capacity of every available configuration. When double hanging, the weight must be shared evenly and both sides of the picture attached together. For heavy or valuable artwork, confirm the complete installation and wall fixing are suitable before hanging.
How much weight can the Gallery System track hold?
We do not specify a separate maximum load for the track. When it is correctly installed with fixings suitable for the wall, and each artwork remains within the rating of its dropper and hook combination, the total load will normally remain well within the track’s capacity.
Concentrated loads are more important than the total weight across an entire run, so please contact us if you plan to hang unusually heavy artwork or concentrate several heavy pieces in a small area.
Can Gallery System track also be used for picture lighting?
Yes. The optional Gallery Lighting System uses the track to support adjustable lighting wands. If you may add lighting now or later, plan for it before installing the track: keep the track no more than 2.6 metres above the floor and leave approximately 20 mm of clear space above it so the lighting wands can be inserted and removed.
Different transformer kits are available. Because power is carried through the track, the sections serving a lit run generally need to form a continuous, connected length.

Who can install The Gallery System?
The Gallery System can be installed by a confident DIYer, experienced handyperson or suitable contractor. For larger commercial installations, complex layouts or integrated lighting, we recommend using an experienced installer.
We have trusted installers serving Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Order your system first, then contact an installer directly to arrange a suitable time. Installation is arranged separately and charged in addition to the system.
What if I’m not sure whether The Gallery System is right for me?
The Gallery System is designed for demanding residential, gallery and commercial displays, with multiple dropper and hook options and the ability to add compatible picture lighting. If you need higher capacities or expect your display to change regularly, it is likely to be an excellent fit.
