How we calculate your Slimline system
The calculator considers all of your walls together, allocating 2 metre tracks and suitable offcuts across the project to minimise waste. To keep each installation neat and practical, it allows no more than one cut piece per wall rather than making up a wall length from several small offcuts.
Track
Slimline track is supplied in 2 metre lengths. We calculate each wall separately and allow for tracks to be cut or joined where necessary.
Wall fixings
Slimline wall anchors are supplied in packs of five. The calculator adds one separately purchased pack for each 2 metre length of track in your configuration.
End caps
For each wall, select whether the left end, right end or both require an end cap. The calculator totals your selections and includes the required number of two-cap packs; unselected ends are treated as not requiring an end cap.
Hanging components
We start with one dropper and one hook for each metre of track being installed, rounding each quantity up to the nearest pack of ten. This is a practical starting point for most installations, and you can adjust the quantities in the calculator or at checkout. Additional droppers and hooks can also be added later once the track is installed.

Track
The Slimline track is an aluminium profile that mounts horizontally to the wall and forms the foundation from which your artwork is hung. It is supplied in 2 metre lengths and can be cut or joined as required.
Droppers
Droppers attach to the track and hang vertically down the wall. They can be repositioned horizontally along the track whenever you change your display.
Hooks
Hooks attach to the droppers and support the artwork. Their position can be adjusted vertically, allowing picture heights to be changed without making new holes in the wall.
Accessories
End caps and wall fixings complete the track installation. The calculator also includes HangRight Clips to help artwork sit more upright and felt wall protectors to cushion it against the wall.

Common questions about the Slimline Art Hanging System
How is Slimline track supplied, cut and joined?
Slimline track is supplied in 2 metre lengths and is not pre-cut. It can be cut to suit shorter walls or joined to create longer runs.
We recommend measuring and cutting each piece during installation so that small variations in wall measurements can be accommodated.
At what height should Slimline track be installed?
Slimline track can be installed directly beneath a cornice or square-set ceiling, with the wall anchors helping to align it against the edge.
Before fixing the track, check how straight that edge is: even a small variation can create a visible gap above the straight track. Minor gaps can be finished with a bead of flexible caulk, but where the ceiling line is noticeably uneven, we recommend installing the track a consistent distance below it.
For high ceilings, also choose a height that allows you to safely add and remove droppers using an appropriate stepladder. Read our detailed guide to choosing the track height.
How long are Slimline droppers, and what should I do with any excess?
Standard Slimline droppers are 2 metres long, allowing the lowest hook to sit up to 2 metres below the track. Any excess can be formed into a loose coil, with the tail passed through the coil several times, and tucked behind the lowest artwork. This preserves the full length for future use.
Clear Tape and Clear Line droppers can be cut if preferred, but this permanently shortens them. Stainless steel droppers must not be cut because their braided wire is annealed at the end to prevent fraying; cutting it will make the dropper unusable.
Can I move my pictures after the system is installed?
Yes. One of the main advantages of the Slimline system is that the hanging components can be repositioned without repeatedly fixing into the wall. Droppers can be moved along the track and hooks can be adjusted vertically as your display changes.
Can I combine different droppers and hooks in one Slimline system?
Yes. Most customers choose the same dropper and hook combination throughout their installation for a consistent appearance and simple operation. However, you can mix components—for example, using Clear Tape droppers and Mini Hooks in one area, with stainless steel droppers and Push Button Hooks for heavier artwork elsewhere.
The calculator creates each option using one dropper and hook combination. Choose the option closest to your overall requirements and add it to the cart. Then visit the All Slimline System Components page to add any alternative droppers or hooks you need. In the cart, you can remove items or adjust each quantity to create your preferred combination.
How much weight can Slimline droppers and hooks hold?
Capacity depends on the dropper and hook combination. Stainless steel droppers are rated to 14 kg with one dropper or 28 kg with two. Clear Tape is rated to 7 kg or 14 kg with two. Clear Line with Mini Hooks is rated to 8 kg or 16 kg with two; Clear Line with Push Button Hooks is rated to 6 kg or 12 kg with two.
The calculator shows the capacity of each available configuration. For heavy or valuable artwork, confirm the complete installation and wall fixing are suitable before hanging. Compare Slimline droppers and capacities.
How much weight can the Slimline track hold?
We do not specify a separate maximum load for the Slimline track. When the track is correctly installed with suitable wall fixings, and each artwork remains within the rating of its dropper and hook combination, the total load will normally remain well within the track’s capacity.
Concentrated loads are more important than the total weight across an entire run, so please contact us if you are planning to hang unusually heavy artwork or concentrate several heavy pieces in a small area.
Are wall fixings included in the calculation?
Yes. We include Slimline wall anchors and screws. The high-strength nylon anchors are fixed to the wall first, and the track snaps over them with an interference fit.
We allow an average of five anchors per 2 metre track length and calculate the quantity from the number of lengths required.
Masonry plugs and plasterboard WallMates are not included because the appropriate fixing depends on the wall construction. This avoids supplying unsuitable fixings that may be discarded; both are inexpensive and readily available from hardware stores.
Who can install the Slimline Art Hanging System?
Slimline can be installed by a confident DIYer, experienced handyperson or suitable contractor. We also have trusted installers serving Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
We recommend ordering your Slimline system first. Once it arrives, contact an installer directly to arrange a suitable time. Installation is arranged separately and charged in addition to the system.
