Before you choose
All Slimline droppers are supplied in 2 metre lengths and can be inserted anywhere along the track.
The table shows the rated capacity of one dropper. The lower-rated component determines the capacity of the completed dropper-and-hook combination. When double hanging from two matching combinations and the load is shared evenly, the artwork can weigh up to twice that combination capacity.
Compare the character of each dropper and how it suits the surrounding space. Our Clear Line and Stainless Steel options use exceptionally fine profiles to remain discreet in a wide range of environments.
Push-button hooks save considerable time and are far simpler to adjust when artworks are changed regularly. For displays that change less often, the Mini Hook provides an economical option.

The figures shown are the rated capacity of each dropper. The lower-rated component determines the capacity of the completed dropper-and-hook combination. When double hanging from two matching combinations and the load is shared evenly, the artwork can weigh up to twice the applicable combination capacity. The track, fixings and wall substrate must also support the load.
* The Clearline Push Button Hook is rated to a maximum of 6kg, so it limits the completed Clear Line combination to 6kg.

Clearline, Clear Tape and Stainless Steel Slimline droppers are supplied in 2 metre lengths. To manage unused length without permanently shortening the dropper, wrap the excess around your hand to form a neat loop, pass the free tail through the loop to hold it together and place it behind the artwork.
Clearline and Clear Tape droppers can be cut shorter if required, but the removed section cannot be reused. Stainless Steel droppers must never be cut. The lower end is annealed to prevent the wire from fraying; if it is cut, the wire will fray and the dropper will no longer work correctly. Looping and concealing excess length is generally recommended because it preserves the full dropper for future display changes.
Yes. Custom lengths can be arranged for Clearline, Clear Tape and Stainless Steel droppers, including lengths shorter than 2 metres and lengths up to 4 metres. Custom droppers involve additional cost and lead time, so the standard 2 metre length is recommended for most installations. Contact Shakespeare Solutions if your project requires a custom length.
For most installations, yes. The dropper length is measured downward from the track, so a 2 metre dropper installed on a track 3.5 metres above the floor allows a hook to be positioned at approximately 1.5 metres. This suits many typical displays, where artwork is rarely hung with the hook close to floor level. If the track is substantially higher or the artwork must hang lower, a custom dropper up to 4 metres can be arranged.
Yes. Slimline droppers can be inserted or removed at any point along the track; they do not need to be fed in from an open end. This design makes it easy to add a dropper between existing artworks without removing other droppers or moving the entire display along the track.
Yes. You can position multiple hooks on a single Slimline dropper and hang more than one artwork in a vertical column, provided the combined load remains within the dropper’s capacity and each hook is suitable for the artwork it carries. No. Slimline droppers are supplied in packs of ten without hooks and the hooks are purchased separately. After choosing your droppers, continue to the Slimline Hooks page to select the appropriate hooks for the display.

The Clear Tape Dropper Kit includes 10 x 2 metre pre cut polycarbonate tape droppers. Unlike their “Gallery System’ cousins, these droppers can be attached to the track at any point and do not need to be fed in from one end.
These droppers can only be used with the Standard Adjustable Hooks and hold 7kgs per dropper.
The Clear Line Dropper Kit includes 10 x 2 metre pre cut filament style droppers with a diameter of 1.2mm.
The droppers can be added at any point along the track and as such are not required to be fed in from one end.
They can be used with the Mini Hooks only (cannot be used with Push Button Hooks) and hold 8kgs per dropper.
The droppers will exhibit a slight stretch when under load and may not be the best choice for galleries trying to line up a large number of pieces.
The Stainless Steel Dropper Kits include 10 x 2 metre pre cut stainless steel braided wires /cables. The wires have been thermally bound at the end to ensure they do not fray. The droppers can be added at any point along the track and as such are not required to be fed in from one end.
These droppers can be used with the Standard Adjustable, Push Button or Security Hooks and are capable of holding 30kgs per dropper (Note: max of 20kgs per hook).
The droppers should not be cut, instead we recommend rolling any surplus wire up and placing it below the lowest hanging piece.
